Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Deepens as the Number of Orphaned Children Rises

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate as the consequences of months of war and widespread destruction deepen across the territory. International organizations warn that civilians — particularly children — are facing some of the most severe humanitarian conditions in recent history.

According to recent reports released over the past two days, the number of children who have lost one or both parents in Gaza has risen to more than 64,000 orphaned children, highlighting the devastating social impact of the ongoing conflict. This alarming figure reflects the scale of the humanitarian tragedy affecting families throughout the Gaza Strip.

Many of these children are now living under extremely difficult circumstances. In addition to the trauma of losing family members, they are also facing displacement, lack of access to education, food shortages, and limited healthcare services. Humanitarian reports indicate that thousands of households have lost their primary breadwinner, further worsening the social and economic crisis across the region.

At the same time, humanitarian organizations continue to describe the situation in Gaza as catastrophic, with severe shortages of essential supplies including food, clean water, medical aid, and fuel. Much of Gaza’s critical infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, including hospitals, schools, water networks, and electricity systems, making daily life increasingly difficult for the population.

Children remain the most vulnerable group in this crisis. Aid agencies estimate that tens of thousands of children are suffering from malnutrition, while hundreds of thousands have been unable to attend school due to the destruction of educational facilities or their conversion into shelters for displaced families.

Meanwhile, nearly one million displaced people are currently living in temporary shelters, tents, or damaged buildings across the Gaza Strip. Many families are struggling to secure basic necessities such as food, safe drinking water, and medical care. Humanitarian organizations warn that continued restrictions on aid deliveries could further worsen the crisis and increase the risk of famine in some areas.

Observers note that the situation in Gaza is no longer a temporary humanitarian emergency but may become a long-term crisis with lasting consequences for an entire generation of children growing up amid war, displacement, and instability.

In light of these conditions, humanitarian organizations are urgently calling for increased international support, expanded humanitarian access, and stronger protection for civilians — particularly children, who continue to bear the heaviest burden of this ongoing crisis.
